[info]bmajors posted her awesome ebay find, now its my turn
Picture is under a cut because its NSFW for some:

I've been looking for this magazine for the last 15 years. I'm amazed it actually turned up. Ebay is both the best and worst thing thats happened to the Rocky Horror collectors market. Best in that I don't think I'd have ever found it, or many other items otherwise. Worst in that several items like the scrapbook, movie novel and Mexican album have gone down in value.

It was part of a package of 20 magazines from the seventies. Having looked through them all I gotta say that theres maybe 10% of women in there who are remotely attractive. I could write a whole post about that.

The bidding went pretty high on the item. Which leads me to believe that there were other Rocky Horror bidders in on it, other porn magazine bidders on it, or other porn magazine bidders who've I've pestered over the years looking for this particular magazine bidding on it. Ebay bidders - except for the winning bid - are now anonymous.

EDIT: As an FYI, for anyone else looking, its volume 11 issue 4 (published quarterly). Hi-res scans coming shortly.

Fortunately vaginas started to look good circa 1987, which is right around when i started having a healthy interest in them.

Prior to that it was clearly an unhealthy interest.

HA! That's awesome.

Worst in that several items like the scrapbook, movie novel and Mexican album have gone down in value.

Yeah, I agree. It's really sweet because if you need something you can get it's really cheap.

I got an immaculately mint hardcover movie novel for $5. When I got it I'm convinced I was the first person to open the cover 'cause it was pristine. I can remember when one of my friends/fellow collectors took out a loan to buy a crappy condition hardcover movie novel about 15 years ago. (Remember when that thing was *impossible* to find?)

I recently got a mint copy of the Norsk LP for about $30. I only had one other copy of that LP---that is cracked down one side---and I paid a couple hundred for it back around '91-'92.

I'm ashamed to admit how much I spent on my first LP of "The Stripper."

Granted, that one is still not the easiest to find. But since it's not something the average fan/collector is looking for, when one does pop up on eBay they usually don't go for that much. (The demand for that has also gone down with everyone downloading MP3's.)

But many congrats on that find. I don't think I ever would have been able to find out just how to track something like that down.

I'm also amused how cyclical the stuff is. Remember when every other listing was that ugly Frank doll, the celebriduck, or the light up lips sign and now they are really hard to come by?

Yeah, I never thought in a million years that I'd have a problem finding a copy of the Absolute Pleasure CD. At the time it came out I think I had about 10 cases of them (because of the wife being on it I sold it for a long time--they took up my closet for quite a while) now I can't find one for less than $20. I have relatives and friends who want a copy but I'll be damned if I'll ever have any more.

The other odd thing that has skyrocketed as a collectible is the 10" single that Hot Topic sold about 7 years ago. I had several extras and I sold two on eBay for $100 each. I never would have guessed that would have become a collectible--I would have bought out every store around here.
